Mestre Roxinho was initiated into Capoeira Angola in 1979 at the 1º de Maio Academy of Capoeira Angola, the academy founded in 1962 by Mestre Virgílio in the suburb of Fazenda Grande do Retiro in Salvador, Bahia. He stayed with Mestre Virgílio until 1996, then joined the Association of Capoeira Angola Chapéu de Couro until 1999, at which time he decided to return to the 1º de Maio A cademy and realised then that it was time to have his own work, so ECAMAR - the School of Capoeira Angola Mato Rasteiro appeared. |

It was founded in Baixa de Quintas in the periphery of Salvador, the work developed there in the Academy Estimulo, but before long the Mestre migrated to the city of Cacule (in the interior of Bahia) where he stayed for one year. Next began the São Paulo chapter of his story, in the city of Lins (in the interior of the state) to be more precise. There he had good and bad moments, but for him Lins was a door to the world.
Mestre Roxinho's story, which we will have much time to tell, then continued with the appearance of many invitations to teach courses of Capoeira Angola in various parts of Brazil - from small cities like Tupã to large cities like Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and the capital of São Paolo. Later he received invitations to go to Europe including countries like Germany and Spain, today he is living in Sydney, Australia.
